Doors open day in Warsaw
March 23rd 2018
Dissemination in Poland was based on
communicating the project to school community
(teachers, parents and students) via our official
register (Librus), school website, school and
project fan page on Facebook, Erasmus+ corner
board, directly to at meetings with parents,
students and teachers as well as the word of
mouth. As far as local community is concerned, we cooperated with a primary school in the same district via presentations and workshops. Our local authorities were informed and both the mayor and the deputy mayor visited our school to meet the participants and to watch a presentation about our project. Information about our project was also presented in a local newspaper and on the district’s local council website. As a result the information about the project reached not only the community of 500 students of our school, about 60 students of the partner primary school but also more than 1,800 school Facebook fan page followers as well as local paper and news website readers. As for the quality, the project activities led to our students’ better command of English learnt via drama activities in an informal settings and better knowledge of drama techniques in learning included in our English classes curriculum. Our partner school students learned about new ways of enhancing communication in English via drama and play. The communication between international participants of our project let them open their minds towards new experiences, learn new cultures, methods of learning and improve their language skills.
In November 2017 we established cooperation with Teatr Polski (the Polish Theatre), which resulted in a workshop and an interview meeting with a professional actress for our students. We also had a tour of the backstage of the theatre and we saw a performance of “Uncle Vanya” in the theatre. In the second year of the project we invited our partner schools to participate in another drama workshop with two more actors, had another tour of the theatre and a meeting with a professional actor PrzemysÅ‚aw WyszyÅ„ski. We also visited another theatre Buffo to see the performance of “Pygmalion” in English
We also cooperated with a primary school within our district. Our students prepared and carried out a drama workshop for the younger students as well as made a presentation of our project and Erasmus+ program in general.
As for the promotion of our project in the school we set up an Erasmus+ corner with information boards presenting the project, We also made posters and banners displayed on the school fencing for the visitors and passers by to learn. We set up a Polish project Facebook fan page and published our project activities and results of the school Facebook fan page with over 1,800 followers as well as school’s official website. During open doors days in our school teachers and students presented the project to the visiting parents and candidate students.
In school activities included two annual events called English afternoon, one in February 2018, another in October 2018. Both comprised drama and acting out activities that students performed according to assigned tasks and themes. One was st Valentine’s love theme, the other Halloween. Within English classes, the curriculum was modified to include short videos and drama pieces performed and recorded by students on a certain topic (e.g. restaurant, at the doctor’s, performing English idioms, etc.) We also created an English literature library for students. Our students participated in logo and poster competitions.
